Writing in a Heat Wave without Air Conditioning

Since I've last posted in the fall, I've traveled to Italy, Guatemala, Jamaica, Italy, Ireland, and a lovely two-week writing retreat in Maine. But all of this means that I neglected my blog. And I've picked the hottest day of the year on the East Coast to start again. I live in a little house, built in the 1870s, without air conditioning. I love my house but it simply fails in a heat wave.
I am well into my next book, trying to catch up with characters who live in a cooler climate than I do. I am taking a break from traveling and teaching international writing retreats for one year while I finish the book. I will teach a few local (Western Mass.) workshops but my international adventures need to take a pause.
Thank you to all the readers who have emailed me about my books. I can't tell you how much that means to me. You are wonderful readers and kind souls.
